Time to welcome the season oF spring!

Feeling it too?

That sense of being “done with winter” and ready to invite a fresh new energy?

Do you also feel the urge to shake off the heaviness of the colder months and welcome the lighter energy of spring?

Good news!

We just reached the Spring Equinox last weekend, the moment when day and night are in perfect balance, marking the shift into spring (in the Northern Hemisphere).

Nature is waking up.

And we’re invited to do the same.

It might not feel super smooth or easy to go straight from the more contracted, inward-drawing energy of winter to the more expansive, open energy of spring. Implementing simple rituals and practices can help ease the process, gently supporting your body and mind to move with the season.

In Chinese Medicine, spring is all about the Wood element and the organs connected to it, liver and gallbladder — helping your body release what’s stagnant, move energy smoothly, and make space for new growth and fresh possibilities (see suggested poses below).

It’s the perfect time to clear out and let go, making space for fresh energy, inspiration, and renewal.

Here are some ways we’re doing it:

CLEAR OUT YOUR CLOSET/WARDROBE

There’s something incredibly freeing about letting go of what no longer serves you.

Go through your clothes, pick up each piece, and notice your first instinctive feeling.

Is it a full-body YES or a dull NO?

Don’t overthink it! If it’s not a clear YES, it’s a NO — let it go!

CLEAN YOUR HOME

Put on your favourite music, and crank up the volume!

Bring out your vacuum cleaner, mop and cloths and clean your house!

If you’ve got some nice essential oils at home put a few drops into spray bottle and sprinkle over your house!

SOCIAL MEDIA DECLUTTER

Unfollow accounts instagram that make you feel like you’re not enough. It’s that simple.

Remove Facebook “friends” you don’t actually care about (and who don’t need to know about your life either).

And why not create a new habit of spending less time on social media overall? If you can get your partner and family to implement the same, even better!

INGREDIENTS FOR A GREAT DETOX JUICE

Invite lighter foods

Support your body’s natural detoxification by adding more fresh, wholesome foods. A simple way to start? Make a fresh juice with cucumber, celery, apple, and spinach — one of our favorites!

Yin Yoga to support Wood energy

Focus on poses that open the hips, targeting the inner thighs (liver) and outer hips and legs (gallbladder), and include poses that stretch the sides of the body. Think SleepingSwan (=Pigeon pose folding forwards), Butterfly (see photo below), Firelog (=Double Pigeon), a Supine Twist and Bananasana (side stretch lying on your back).

Hold each pose for 3–5 minutes, giving enough time for the fascia to lengthen.

Spring Journaling Prompts

In a transition time like this, it can be powerful to pause, reflect and journal.

  • What feels heavy or stagnant in my life right now? What would make me feel lighter if I release it?

  • What do I want to grow or expand this season?

  • Is there anywhere in my life where I am resisting movement or change?

  • If spring is my personal New Year, what intention would I set today for this new cycle until March 21, 2027?
