INSPIRO YOGA RETREATS AND YOGA TEACHER TRAININGS IN EUROPE

Our Story

We often get asked if yoga brought us together.

We laugh.

Not even close.

We met in a nightclub in Barcelona in 2003 long before we’d even heard the word yoga.

Over the next decade, we traveled the world together, living and working in Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, and Spain, and exploring places like South America, India, and parts of Southeast Asia.

Most of the time we worked in hospitality or seasonal jobs so we could keep exploring.

We rarely had much of a plan — we simply decided together where to go next and followed whatever felt exciting or new.

Finding Yoga

Even before yoga entered our lives, we were drawn to seeking out adventure and new experiences — the kind that made us feel alive, connected, and inspired.

Meeting new people from different countries, discovering new cultures, and learning along the way — all of it shaping the way we wanted to live, and what truly felt meaningful to us.

Somewhere in our late 20s, our curiosity began turning toward yoga and personal development.

We became like two sponges — reading any book we could get our hands on, watching documentaries, and trying different styles of yoga wherever we found ourselves along our travels.

What started as curiosity slowly became something deeper.

As we stepped further into this path, we began questioning pretty much everything.

How we were living.
The choices we were making.
And even why we’re here on this planet.

By 2012, yoga had begun affecting both of us in ways we couldn’t quite explain, leaving us wanting to explore it more deeply.

So we quit our full-time jobs in Copenhagen.

And booked a one-way ticket to Bali.

Zero plan.

Just curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a desire to live more fully.

That leap of faith changed our lives in ways we could never have imagined.

A New Chapter in Bali

Shortly after arriving in Bali, Lisa completed her teacher training (Naza had completed his first training in India the year before), and we soon found ourselves teaching full-time at one of the island’s best-known yoga studios.

We still remember how crazy nervous we were in the beginning — standing in front of a full class of 50 people, teaching yoga in Bali, almost having to pinch ourselves that this was actually our life!

Life in Ubud quickly immersed us in the yoga world.

During those early years, we assisted and mentored within several teacher trainings at the studio. Many highly experienced and internationally recognised teachers came through to lead them, giving us the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the field.

We spent as much time as we could practicing, learning, and connecting with students and teachers from all over the world.

We ended up spending nearly three years living and teaching in Bali — years that quietly shaped us and laid the foundation for everything that followed.

Community, Creativity & Inspiration

Looking back, what stood out most during those early years in Ubud was the atmosphere.

People came from all over the world to practice. What stood out was that no one really cared where you were from, how old you were, or what you did for a living.

Things that usually define you elsewhere just didn’t seem to matter here.

There were no roles.

People were simply people.

Many of the people who came to practice, along with other teachers around town, became close friends. Before we knew it, we were surrounded by a strong and supportive community with people from all over the world.

Within that community were graphic designers, chefs, musicians, teachers, and creatives of all kinds, many working on projects of their own, and everyone genuinely cheering each other on.

The energy was uplifting, inspiring, and pretty damn magical. If someone had a big dream, others supported it.

It felt like anything was possible.

The Birth of Inspiro Yoga

By the end of 2013, we decided to step away from teaching full-time at the studio to explore a more independent path and expand our teaching across the island.

It was during this time that the idea for Inspiro Yoga came to us.

We found ourselves asking how we could bring together everything we had fallen in love with during our time in Bali.

The yoga, the sense of community, the inspiring people we met, the creative energy around us, our love for travel, and the incredible food culture that had become such a big part of our daily lives.

At first, Inspiro existed as a simple website where we shared who we were and where we were teaching in Bali.

We had no business plan, had never studied marketing, had no email list, and honestly no real idea what we were doing. Looking back, we were very naive.

But maybe it was that strong feeling that anything was possible, something we had carried with us from our time in Ubud, that made us simply go for it.

We had a genuine wish to share our love for yoga and inspire as many people as possible.

So that’s what we did.

INSPIRO YOGA RETREATS

Inspiro Yoga Today

Our intention remains the same as it was back then.

To create spaces where people can deepen their practice, connect with themselves and others, and feel inspired.

The sense of community that welcomed and supported us during those early years in Bali continues to shape everything we do, guiding every class, retreat, and workshop we offer.

By 2026, we’ve taught over 12,000 hours of yoga — in studios, retreats, workshops, festivals, teacher trainings, and online. We’ve now hosted more than 100 retreats and 20 teacher trainings around the world - and we’re not planning on stopping anytime soon.

Our story is still unfolding, and we’d love for you to be a part of it.
